The NC Property Management Conference is hosted once a year in Cary, NC by the North Carolina NARPM chapters. Every year the team works to bring together top-notch speakers who are experts in property management. The speakers cover topics that range from fair housing, tenant issues, growing your business, technology tools, current events, and more! There is also a trade show where you can explore services and products that pertain to property management.

We are excited for a great group of new speakers this year!
Danny Plueddemann.png

Danny is a partner with Smartshield Property Management and an independent insurance agent for AAA Insurance.  His specialty and core focus is insurance for property management companies that need General Liability, Workers Compensation, Errors & Omissions, and Cyber Liability.  He proudly represents carriers like Travelers, Safeco, Progressive, and USLI.  Danny brings a practical perspective to insurance for property managers as he has dealt with dozens of claims unique to the property management industry.  Danny’s first business was a hardware store in Mexico City and he later owned a mortgage company.  He has been in the property management and insurance business since 2010.  He is a past President of the Charlotte NARPM Chapter.  When he is not working, he loves to bang out chords on his guitar and ride his motorcycle. In quieter moments he likes to read Lao Tzu and watch Liverpool play soccer.

Kellie Tollifson is a small business owner, property manager and sought-after speaker.   Kellie began her 24-year career in Property Management as a landlord managing her own investment properties.  She has grown to become owner of T-Square Properties, which manages over 470 doors and 85 Homeowner Associations.  Kellie loves to share her expertise in the small business community and property management industry with audiences across the country.  Kellie holds a bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science from San Jose State University has served on several NARPM® committees including Strategic Planning, Member Services and as the NW Regional Vice President. Kellie has served on the National NARPM® Board of Directors since 2015 and is currently serving as the NARPM® 2020 President.  Kellie is also a Certified Continuing Education Real Estate Instructor for the State of Washington and a National Instructor for NARPM®. Kellie spends her free time at the gym, exploring the Northwest– especially Montana, at her new vacation home, and spending time with loved ones. She lives just outside Seattle in Woodinville, Washington, with her husband, three children and two dogs.

KELLIE TOLLIFSON

Patrick Henry believes “If you can’t create an emotional connection with your customers, you’re going to lose them”. As a former Nashville songwriter and featured performer on the SiriusXM Radio Comedy Channels, Patrick shows that entertainment and education go 

hand-in-hand. He delivers a unique combination of music, comedy, and actionable customer engagement principles that show how turn customers into followers. After graduating from College in the mid-nineties, Patrick moved to Nashville, Tennessee where he wrote songs and radio Jingles for a music row publishing company. After years of touring the country as a musician, he realized that the same principles that make great artists great, also apply to other industries. He now speaks to corporations and associations across the nation sharing his Four Chord Customer Experience.  Patrick says “regardless of profession, we are just people serving people”. When not speaking and entertaining audiences, Patrick can be found at home in North Carolina with his gorgeous wife and three “semi-adorable” children. A rabid Auburn Football fan, Patrick’s allegiance shifted when his son and his money went to North Carolina State University.

Pam Vesper has earned some fancy degrees from some fancy schools, but what you really need to know about her is that she is a lawyer who worked for 15 years as a prosecuting attorney and investigator for the North Carolina Real Estate Commission.  Since leaving the Commission, Pam opened her own law firm and she now spends her time defending real estate agents before the board and helping brokers and individuals with all things real estate. From contract disputes, agency agreements, business purchases, and landlord/tenant law, she does it all.  She has even written and taught a Continuing Education class or two.

JAY BERUBE

Paul was born in San Diego and has lived in California for most of his life.  Paul graduated from the University of San Diego and received a masters in Education.  He was in education as a math teacher and administrator for 17 years. As many of us do, he first managed a rental property by keeping and renting out his personal home when he moved to a new home.  Throughout his teaching career, Paul was an active investor buying properties throughout the United States. In 2010, Paul received his realtor license and started working with his wife, Christine, flipping houses.  He became a broker and started House Match in 2014. At first, property management was only a side business for friends and family, but after taking the courses and learning the industry, the business was opened to the public. This year, Paul was a featured speaker at the National Association of Residential Property Managers (NARPM)  Conference in San Diego which was attended by over 500 property managers.   He has led conferences on systems and in January 2019 worked with 40 property managers from around the country on creating better systems for your business.  He is on numerous National committees with NARPM to promote and make the industry better. 

When Paul is not working his favorite thing to do is to spend time with his family.  He has two kids, Kelly (16) and David (15) and an amazing wife Christine, who works with him.  Paul loves running and has completed numerous marathons and ultra-marathons. His longest run was the Angeles Crest100 mile race.  Yes 100 miles! in 32 hours. He has competed in 4 Ironman Triathlons which is a 140.6 mile race including 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, followed by a 26.2 mile run.  He loves skiing, mountain biking, hiking, swimming and being active. His favorite place to go to relax is Mammoth Mountain.

Shawn grew up in Aztec, NM. After completion of his Associates Degree from Glendale Community College, Shawn began flight school in Scottsdale, AZ and is a rated helicopter pilot. Shawn began investing in real estate in 2003. Since then he has earned his Master Property Manager (MPM) and Residential Management Professional (RMP) designations from the National Association of Residential Property Managers (NARPM). Holding the MPM designation puts Shawn amongst only 1% of all property managers who hold this prestigious accomplishment. Being a Professional Member of NARPM, Shawn is also involved at the local (NM) and National level for Governmental Affairs that works to better the industry and environment for landlords and investors. Shawn has served as the Albuquerque Metro NARPM Chapter President for 2017 and is still very involved in the Chapter’s success. Shawn furthermore, is an approved Uniform Owner Resident Relations Act (UORRA) Instructor for the state of New Mexico. Shawn enjoys spending time with his two kids, golf, baseball, hunting, and fishing.

His deep background in sales process engineering has allowed him to design the kind of sales process that can transform a stagnant operation into a thriving company that has the freedom to choose its clients and command premium pricing. As the CEO of RentScale, a South Florida-based consulting firm that helps property managers double their door count, he has gained an uncommon insight into the art of selling to accidental landlords, seasoned investors and aspiring owners by working with nearly four dozen property management firms in the last 18 months. He writes and speaks regularly on how entrepreneurs can replace themselves as the only salesperson in their company and has published two books on sales and marketing. Jeremy is also the host of the New Customer Machine podcast, where he interviews experts and entrepreneurs about how to turn strangers into customers at scale. Prior to developing the proprietary “Scalable Sales Team Framework” that RentScale teaches and implements, he founded two professional service firms and used those principles to build service-based sales teams. The setbacks and breakthroughs he learned during those 15 years were the inspiration for the work he does today with other entrepreneurs.

John graduated from Clemson University with a B.S. in Engineering and obtained an Executive MBA from the University of Memphis. He is the founder of two start-up companies: PetScreening.com and Park Avenue Properties. He started his companies after working 14-years in corporate America for ExxonMobil and IBM Corporation. John served two consecutive terms in the North Carolina House of Representatives and was the Majority Deputy Whip and Chairman of Regulatory Reform and State & Local Government committees. Before serving as a North Carolina State Representative, John also served two consecutive terms as a Town of Cornelius Commissioner. He is married to his high school sweetheart and has 4 children. In 2020, he will be running for his third-term in the NC House of Representatives. In his spare time, he loves to fish, camp and travel with his family.

Debbie has managed investment property since 1983 and founded Henry Property Management in 1989. She was born and raised in Raleigh and attended the Wake County Public Schools. She graduated from NCSU with a BS in Microbiology.

Although she started her career as an Industrial Microbiologist in the pharmaceutical industry, her love of helping people lead her a career in real estate. In 2010, Debbie was appointed to the Citizen Issue Review Commission for the Town of Cary.

Debbie's passion for teaching lead her to be a co-founder of  Capital Real Estate School. She has written several courses which she teaches to other property managers around the state for their annual CE credit.
